Yesterday we lost a longtime perfusion colleague and friend from the Pittsburgh community, Ed Szczypinski, CCP, LP. Ed started his career in healthcare as a registered nurse graduating from the St. Francis Hospital nursing program in 1973. Shortly after he was introduced into perfusion by Dr. James Giacobine and Bob Dyga. He was one of the first to learn perfusion on-the-job and later achieve ABCP certified perfusionist. Along with the entire leadership team of Pennsylvania State Perfusion Society (PSPS) I wish to acknowledge a tremendous loss to our profession with the passing of Ralph Montesano on March 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. I am pleased to inform you that The Senate of Pennsylvania unanimously confirmed the appointment of John Mitchell, LP, CCP to the State Board of Medicine for a four year term. Mr. Mitchell’s appoint was effective March 14, 2016 and expires March 14, 2020. I am pleased to also inform you that The Senate of Pennsylvania unanimously confirmed the appointment of David Palmer, LP, CCP to the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine for a two year term.
