Along with the entire leadership team of Pennsylvania State Perfusion Society (PSPS) I wish to acknowledge a tremendous loss to our profession with the passing of Ralph Montesano on March 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ralph had been a pillar of strength within our profession for the past thirty-five years. He was the first graduate of the perfusion school of the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Ralph spent the majority of his perfusion career practicing at the Lehigh Valley Health Network. Ralph Montesano was especially vital to this organization as a Past President, but even more importantly he is credited with being the organizer of PSPS and as I like to call him, “Our Founding Father”. Ralph and his co-founders of PSPS successfully persevered on a fifteen year journey to establish Perfusionists as Licensed Healthcare Professionals in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania over five years ago. The Pennsylvania State Perfusion Society extends our sympathy and gratitude to the Montesano Family as his legacy will remain forever.
